#WednesdayWisdom – Is it possible to ‘harden’ a horse’s tendons with exercise?

Posted on Posted in Uncategorised

Tendon adaptation occurs during the first 2 years of the horse’s life, a lack of appropriate exercise during this period cannot be made up for in later life. Therefore it is not possible to ‘harden’ tendons in a mature horse, instead ensure plenty of turn out in varied terrain and age appropriate exercise for developing youngsters to give them the best chance of remaining sound as adult horses.
